we ran into the Meta Forest
where shining gems
dimmed diadems abound

hear here
drums made of animal skins
galloping through the pinecones
trampling the dew
flattening the moss
here hear

faster and faster
my ribbons get tangled
long silken white
scarlet tipped

our toes, barely dipped
while our bodies drenched
under that tree
over that curled fernleaf shoot
beneath the ripened vines
and strangled fruit

the skin opens
meta pores soak in
what you said what you didn't mean
what you saw what I heard unseen

don't lose my soul
hold it like a woolen shawl in snow
a brokenblow, never cease to know
we are lost in the Meta Four Winds' brow

No! not there
It's where the smoke tree hides
Hear, yes here
Mount the tides
We will fly lost and aimless
Through the Meta Forest

over the curled fernleaf shoot, mount the tides, we will fly

before us all, you flew

how I do miss you, my friend. j.

This is beautiful. I never knew you, Mari, but I am grateful for the shimmering traces of your soul you've left for us here.

this was posted before i was aware within the devart community... such an amazing, beautiful poem... reminds me of a time sleeping in an appalachian forest, woke up in the middle of a moonless night to see the ground alight with foxfire muffled by fog...

such a beautiful memory to invoke from a beautiful soul.

(sigh) not the first or last time i miss you...

One thing I forgot to like these really remind me of why I love poetry. All the images and feelings are there in front of you, though the untrained eye sees only a group of words.

Wow. That's all I can think to say. I had to read it a few times, not because I didn't fully get it the first time, but because that weird, eerie but nifty feeling you get from the poem is just sweet. I mean, you really captured something here. I agree with corrodingsun...I couldn't have put it better. It must have been an easy decision for DP; congrats on that award. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go read it again. =D (Big Grin)

you are good at what you do.
aysel pretty much summed up the notion this conjures: it feels very familiar, yet completely strange, somehow enchanted. and at the heart of it all, there is a strong undercurrent of peace and bliss and love.

oh i had not seen this! how the forest spreads for both of you; each heading to the other's unknown, reaching truth, being..being..reaching....

such splendor!~ ..oh, yes, i can see how there surely is "no word to express it". i, too, am in awe ;) (Wink)

understanding bevelled, held
that which remains unspoken -
whose wonderment could ever fathom it?

congrats, mari *hugs*

I remember this! :D (Big Grin) Wonderful poem, and still makes me feel like a princess in a fairytale land, watching unicorns.

is always the first to be touched by the thorns.

im in awe.

you have managed to create something so strange and yet reminiscent, that i think even our timeless unchallenged literary masters, turning in their graves, would think twice on its origin; questioning the imagery, beckoning its sadness.

Rushing towards singularity.

souls touching,
moving as one.
yet only by the physical.

souls moving,
caring as one.
by faith
and fate.

I felt inside out and upside down these last few days. I listened to two, maybe it was three, no it was more, in agonizing pain, and I felt so helpless. No words, it seems, came from me to assuage they/you or myself as I sank into sadness. I received notes from here sent to my email to which I forgot to reply when I arrived onsite. And even this when it could not be posted, I got in the way and I didn't open it until this morning. Now I must say, what a true joy it was to read this poem which sent me back to past reality...precious memories of absolute, unselfish and giving friendship. I moved with determination not to forget to write you about this. I wanted to say, you really must post this poem Mari...and there you were, standing with your reed woven basket in a field of wildflowers, waiting. The most wondrous flood of love for the underneath of this poem engulfed me and through diamond eyes I write you. It is more than lovely Mari, and there is no word to express it.
